Consoles: The Future

PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and the next generation.

Microsoft's next-gen console, Project Helix, is designed to play both Xbox console and PC games. It runs on a custom AMD SoC with "an order of magnitude leap in ray tracing," and alpha dev kits are planned for 2027.[Xbox Wire] AMD has said its semi-custom chip is on track to support a 2027 launch, though Microsoft hasn't announced a consumer date or price.[Tom's Hardware] Sony has not announced a PS6. We cover it only as clearly labeled analysis.

The current generation is still delivering, with 60fps ray-traced performance modes such as Metro 2039's on PS5, PS5 Pro and Series X.
